My Journey to Wellness
When I turned 14 years old, I remember this is when most of my health issues begun. I was put on hormonal pills because I had developed PCOS a term that was not popular then. I did not understand what was going on with my body.
Flood gates of heavy painful periods, scarcity again for months, headaches, weight gain etc. When I went to see a doctor, I was told that there were high chances that I would not be able to conceive.
That was a spiral down road for me. I wanted a family and what this doctor said became a stamp of approval for a negative belief system in my life. My weight creeped up even more because I did not care about what I put in my mouth. If it tasted good, I ate it. Feelings of isolation and despair set in by the time I was mid 20’s. I did not want to live like this and I did not know how to balance my health, lifestyle, emotions and whatever else that was thrown at me.
In my mid 30’s I was frustrated about my health, I had already undergone surgery and nothing seemed to be going well.
This story may be similar to yours or it may also be different, but it is your unique story. Your health and lifestyle may not be going as planned and you may feel that have done all that you can do. You and only you know the depth of your pain, the struggles and the stereotypes thrown at you. But remember that this story is not cast in stone, you have the power to rewrite it!

That is why I thank God for the storms He brings in our lives. It is not all your fault, your body is not broken, your cravings don’t need to control you, you are not stuck in this rut …
The good news is that my stormy journey with twists and turns led me to be curious about HOW I can nourish my body mentally, emotionally and physically. I was able to restore my health again inside and out. I developed and continue to develop healthy habits that not only fuel my body but my relationships, feed my mind, give me purpose, redefine my joy and keep me grounded spiritually.
Health is a journey and not a destination for me. It’s all about progress and not perfection.
